Information AnalystInformation Analysis is the science of "understanding information"....Understanding information is not only acknowledging the existence of the information, but more importantly (?) gathering and maintaining the meta-data that governs the information. Writing a book about all that's known about cars may be compared with acknowledging the existence of information (about cars). Now, think about all mankind knows about 'cars'. They 'move' at a certain speed ( 70mph in the UK), they carry people and/or goods, they are 'driven by humans', ... For sure I need not convince you that some of the previous statements may/will change in due time. (And yes, global heating may aid to these changes being introduced earlier rather than later.) Now, think about writing a book about all the parameters, components, ingredients of the information we have about cars, a book that would still be valid in 20, 30 and perhaps even 50 years from now. More and more, you should be starting to see/feel what Information Analysis is about. UML is the Unified Modeling Language, which is my prefered language to express information models in. In due time, I will expand the above, and link it with Semantic Web information technology practices.
